I'm Back...

Hello - It's been a long time since I have entered on this blog...sometimes life throws us a curve ball and it takes a little time to figure out how to adjust our swing.  I think I have it back now...

Thank you for your understanding and I will try to catch up on what has happened the last couple months at SIS!

New Year - New Teacher - New Goals

It's a Great Day
to be a Viking!

I would like to introduce a new PE teacher
in our SIS Gym.
Mrs. Quigley will be team teaching with
me this year.
She has taught in Selah for 21 years and is excited for this new teaching adventure.
Each of us will have a class of students during each period.  Yes, two classes at the same time in the gym.  Our students will come to PE for 6 weeks and then rotate to a different specialist the next 6 weeks.
Classes will return later in the year as students will have 2 PE sessions during the school year!

Circuit Training & the 5 Components of Health-Related Fitness

The 5 Components of Health-Related Fitness
with Miss Dynes
(CWU student teacher)

The last three weeks SIS students have been learning a little bit more about the 5 components of health-related fitness.  Each week students have focused on a new component through circuit training.  In circuit training the student will complete an exercise and work really hard for 45 seconds then they will get to rest and rotate for 15 seconds.  Participating in circuit training will help students improve overall fitness and prepare each student for the upcoming fitness testing beginning next week.

Week One - focus: Cardiorespiratory Endurance
Week Two - focus:  Muscular Strength and Muscular Endurance
Week Three - focus:  Flexibility

Improving all of the above components will help us to keep a healthy
Body Composition!
